Rolltop
Privacy policy
Rolltop does not collect, store or share any personal data. Everything it does happens on your Mac, and it can’t reach the internet.
What Rolltop reads
- Only the folders you choose. Usually Desktop and Downloads, and any folder you pick for filing or archiving. macOS remembers each choice; Rolltop can’t see any other folder.
- What macOS recorded about each file. Its name, kind, size and dates; the site it came from and the app that saved it, when macOS kept a record; and a PDF’s own title.
- The text in your screenshots. It’s read on your Mac by macOS’s own text recognition, and a name is picked on your Mac too. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Never inside a key. Private keys, profiles and
.envfiles are recognised by their type. Rolltop never opens them.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing. Rolltop has no network access at all: no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting service. We never see your files, their names or their text.
What Rolltop changes
Only what you apply. Renames, moves and moves to the Trash happen when you press Apply (or act on one file), and one Undo puts a run back. Nothing is ever erased: removing a file means the Trash. Each renamed file keeps a note of its original name, so Undo can put it back.
Stored on your Mac
Your choices (folders, rules, settings) and the history of your runs stay in Rolltop’s own storage on your Mac, so Undo works after a restart. They’re removed if you remove Rolltop from your Mac.
Watching
Watching for new screenshots, the menu bar panel and Open at login are off until you turn them on in Settings. Watching notices new files in the folder your screenshots go to; nothing is renamed by itself.
Purchases
The optional unlock is handled by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to purchases.
